Mountain Area Gem and Mineral Association Photos by: Richard Jacquot This was our third show at the new venue, the Land of the Sky Shrine Club in Swannanoa. The show just keeps getting better and better. Everyone loves the new location, the vendors and the customers. Easy to find. Tons of parking, and the best food we have ever had at a show! This report is a little more focused on what the vendors have to offer. I had one man who does around thirty shows a year say we had a bigger and better selection of different kinds of material than any show he has done. That is what I like, variety! Loaded for the show. When you see this banner, you have arrived! Friday morning. My set up. I had a huge variety at this show. Material from three different collections and my own self collected items. The cut Cannon Glass stones did very well. Here is just a small portion of a Georgia collection I bought. All agates, jasper and petrified wood from the USA. Over the next few shows, I will be bring more and more of this material. I also had the new revised edition of my book, Smokey. That also did well and I hope those who picked up a copy enjoy it. Carol working the Driftwood Silver and Stones booth. All USA handmade jewelry. Brenton Fipps with a big selection of minerals from all over the USA and the world. Mark and Luther inspecting a rock. Gordon Revey and his wife. Gordon is a retired mining engineer and had some great artifacts and minerals. I bought the black hard hat from him. It is a child's hard hat from when the children worked the mines in the old days. Keith Thompson was set up with his partner Alex. They always have a huge selection to choose from. Logan had a big selection of USA petrified wood. Bruce Minkin and his wife. Mink Minerals. Bruce was selling a lot of the Cleveland County quartz that is currently being dug along with his Alabama petrified wood. Reddeer, Adam and Ryan having fun. Reddeer and Ryan had a great selection of fluorite and gemstones. Sam stopped by to see her buddy, Mr. Bobcat. Dave with some cool digging clothes. Sonia having fun. Nice minerals and great variety to choose from. Phil offering some nice specimens for sale. Bruce and Nikko. I had a Vortex coin machine set up to collect coins for my cat foundation. The kids and a few adults had a blast with it. And the cats appreciate it very much! A few goodies I picked up. This is a nice red pet wood from Arizona I purchased from Gordon Revey. Cool cast iron dragonfly I got from Carol. Pic jasper and wonderstone I picked up from Luther. See you in March! |
